Becoming MaggieRose

Recognizing My Niche

Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve always had a niche for planning. I remember looking through party catalogs and marking the items that I just had to have for my next themed birthday party. Making up games for my friends and I to enjoy and putting together menu options were the height of preparing for my parties. However, even then I never thought I’d be an event planner. Hosting was just something I liked to do. As I got older, friends and family would seek my help in organizing their events. It was then when I realized “Hey! Maybe I do have a talent?” And with the encouragement from those friends and family, I finally decided to make it happen and I already had the perfect company name in mind…MaggieRose.

Who Is MaggieRose?

So, who is MaggieRose you ask? No, it’s not my middle name lol. Well, let’s start first by explaining why I chose the name MaggieRose. Maggie, short for Margaret, is the name of my late mother who also happened to be an event planner. She taught me so much about the importance of presentation and attention to detail. From spending hours in a fabric store picking out the finest laces and prints, to putting together the perfect outfit for the next event to attend, to pulling out the best china and flatware (you know the ones that stay in the china cabinet) for guests to dine, learning how to serve, how set a table, then cleaning up after guests (hated that part lol). But these lessons and many more rolled into who I am today. She gave me that eye for detail and the esthetic that groomed me into the event planner that I am and the extraordinaire I aspire to be.

Back to MaggieRose. By now you’ve figured out where the Maggie in MaggieRose is derived from but who is Rose? Rose is still a connection to my mother. She once shared a story with me about how she just loved the name Rose and actually wanted it to be her name! I have a love for roses, and of course roses are flowers, and flowers are always associated with weddings and events. So, it just makes sense, right? MaggieRose, MaggieRose Events! Oh, how I love the name as it pays indubitable homage to the original MaggieRose, Mrs. Margaret Kwarteng. I love and miss you.

I can’t wait to see what’s in store for my growing company and I look forward to sharing every bit with you!
